Avengers #2

This is issue #2 of Avengers Vol. 7 (serialized from 2016), written by Mark Waid, drawn by Mike Del Mundo, with a cover by Alex Ross. It went on sale in North America on December 7, 2016, with a cover date of February 2017. It is the second segment of the "Kang War" storyline, with the tagline "KANG WAR TWO!" After Civil War II, the Avengers roster is severely depleted: Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Nova, and Miles Morales have successively left, leaving Thor (Jane Foster), Vision, Captain America (Sam Wilson), and others, who then recruit Hercules and the Wasp (Nadia Van Dyne), as well as Spider-Man (Peter Parker), who formally rejoins the team this time. No sooner has the team reassembled than it falls into crisis over Vision's personal vendetta against Kang the Conqueror: Vision is bent on revenge and insists on taking back a certain baby/heir from Kang, and if the Avengers cannot stop this synthezoid, the entire historical timeline risks being rewritten. In this issue, the Avengers are trapped in Limbo and clash head-on with multiple versions of Kang around the Federal Reserve building in Washington, D.C., including the debut of M.O.D.O.K. Kang and "Gorilla Kang" and other variants, while the origins of "future Kang" are gradually revealed; amid the melee, Thor shouts the key line, "Don't let any Kang take that baby—hold the line!" The plot continues the suspense of issue #1, formally pushing "Kang War" into full eruption and laying the groundwork for the later feud between Vision and Kang.
