The Post-Wuxia Era

The Post-Wuxia Era is a crossover wuxia time-travel novel by Han Yu Qingliang, serialized on Qidian. It runs to about 2.01 million characters, is completed, and has not been published in print. The protagonist, Qi Yufeng, is a college student born in the 1990s into a modern wuxia family long since fallen into decline; an accidental journey sends him traveling into a wuxia world. Unlike the usual crossover wuxia that closely follows the original timeline, the jianghu he enters has already passed the peak of the classic protagonists: Hu Fei is approaching forty, Guo Jing is old and frail, Zhang Wuji has thrown in the towel and vanished, and Linghu Chong is beyond reckoning. The famous heroes have exited the stage and the old order is loosening, yet the jianghu is by no means barren; on the contrary, dragons and tigers leap everywhere as rough-hewn eccentrics and heroes from among the common people take turns in the spotlight. Qi Yufeng can only carve out his own path and open a new chapter in this "post-classic" age, rather than following the elder heroes through the old stories once more. The work builds its multi-volume narrative through chapters such as "Snow Falls on Changbai, the Flying Fox Appears" and "Laughing Proud in the Red Dust, the Jianghu Far Away"; the first half is distinguished by wuxia sentiment and jianghu atmosphere, while the later part gradually shifts toward contending for supremacy and a more sprawling system. The book is completed in one hundred and eighty-six chapters.
