The Greatest Demon in History

Chen Mo is a small-time guy who always seems to stumble into bad luck. He scrapes by delivering takeout, living a cramped and pinched existence. One day, he happens to pick up a shard of jade that can create monsters, and from then on, the inanimate objects around him begin to come to life: his rice cooker dreams of robbing a bank, his laptop becomes obsessed with hacking, his phone loves mimicking his voice to chat up women, and his old electric scooter devotes itself to rigorous cultivation, determined to evolve into a Cadillac as soon as possible. Besides this troublemaking crew of electrical appliance demons, he has two even bigger headaches: a little girl who loves slaying demons, loves ice cream even more, and whose greatest hobby is flinging talismans around wildly; and a Greek fiancée with a mysterious identity who keeps getting jealous of his boss lady and transforms on the spot whenever her emotions boil over. To buy a house and a car and shake off his relentlessly clingy bad luck, Chen Mo has no choice but to search high and low for shards of unknown origin, getting swept into a chaotic war among gods and monsters, bumbling into trouble and being dragged into saving the day against his will. In the end, everyone tells him the astonishing answer to his identity, while he himself feels like nothing more than a takeout delivery guy. With a light, humorous tone rooted in everyday city life, this novel uses its offbeat "appliance demons" premise to weave together comedy and warmth. It is not a cultivation story of leveling up and hoarding treasures: in the preface, the author even warns readers not to eat or drink while reading, lest they laugh so hard they spray it all over the screen.
