Transformers: Generation One, Volume 2

This volume is the second in the Transformers: Generation One series. The series adapts the comics of the same name published by Canada's Dreamwave Productions between 2002 and 2004, written by Brad Mick and primarily drawn by Pat Lee. It is a new interpretation centered on G1 (Generation One) Transformers characters and is one of the most widely circulated Transformers comics in Chinese-speaking communities, translated by the Sailian Scanlation Group. In the original structure, the series is divided into several phases; Volume 2 corresponds to Dreamwave's six-issue miniseries War and Peace: in Alaska on Earth, the Autobots and Decepticons are locked in fierce battle over an Autobot spacecraft; at the critical moment, the ship opens and out steps a visitor who claims to bring news that 'the war is over.' Immediately afterward appears Shockwave, who stayed behind on Cybertron and unified the entire planet—posing as a 'peacemaker,' he takes both sides on Earth back to Cybertron as war criminals for trial, to which Decepticon leader Megatron responds with defiance, and the flames of war are reignited. Shockwave's true intentions, the order behind Cybertron's 'unification,' and the fate of the remaining Autobot squad form the main suspense of this phase. The Sailian Scanlation Group's edition is known for being in full color and faithful to the original artwork, providing Chinese readers with a complete entry point into the DW Transformers comics. Because DW went bankrupt at the end of 2004, the third part of the series was never completed—a famous regret in the history of Transformers comics.
