Transformers Vol. 23

This volume is the 23rd book in the Chinese edition of the classic Marvel G1 Transformers comic series, corresponding to Marvel US The Transformers #23, "Decepticon Graffiti!" The story continues the tug-of-war between the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth: Megatron summons the duo Runabout and Runamuck from Cybertron and orders them to deliver a challenge to Optimus Prime for a final showdown. However, the two newcomers are unwilling to take orders from an old leader who "left Cybertron four million years ago," and instead run amok on Earth. Inspired by chance by the Acton family, who are on a cross-country vacation, they become obsessed with human graffiti and spray Cybertronian script onto landmarks including Mount Rushmore, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Washington Monument, the Liberty Bell, and the Statue of Liberty, even painting an English declaration to all humanity on the Statue of Liberty. Meanwhile, the human anti-Transformer agency RAAT is investigating the graffiti incidents; Circuit Breaker's investigation leads her to the Acton family, and she ultimately has to fight using a makeshift combiner body assembled from captive Autobots. This is a classic standalone story that interweaves absurd humor with a human perspective, and it also depicts the transformation of human characters such as Donny Finkelberg. This is Vol. 23 of the series and is best read together with the volumes before and after it.
