Luthor

Luthor (originally titled Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, retitled Luthor in its 2010 collected edition) is a collaboration between New York Times bestselling writer Brian Azzarello and artist Lee Bermejo, the team behind Joker. Told entirely in the first person by Lex Luthor, Superman's arch-nemesis, the book places a villain long dismissed as "pure evil" center stage. In Luthor's eyes, the alien in the red cape whom Metropolis hails as its guardian is no savior but a force bound by no human institution, a potential threat to all humanity. To that end he deploys every resource at his command as a billionaire entrepreneur and head of LexCorp: building the Science Spire in Metropolis, bringing a scientist back from Russia, maneuvering around Bruce Wayne, and even placing Kryptonite before Batman. What he seeks to create is not a more powerful weapon but a "hero" who belongs to humanity and can be controlled. The parallel corporate and psychological gamesmanship forces readers to ask what Luthor is really thinking while reexamining Superman's very existence. The Chinese edition, published by World Publishing Corporation, specially includes the original comic proposal, Azzarello and Bermejo's sketches, additional content from the Absolute Luthor edition, and an oversized poster, printed in full color—a volume made for both reading and collecting.
