Summary
Sword, Blade, Moon is a web wuxia novel set in the late Ming dynasty. The story begins during the Wanli and Tianqi reigns: in Liaodong, the Jurchen rise under Nurhaci, who issues the "Seven Grievances" proclamation and openly rebels against the Ming; outside Shanhai Pass the fighting is tense, and Yuan Chonghuan advocates "defend first, then fight," holding the strategic pass. At court, the eunuch Wei Zhongxian, holder of the seal in the Directorate of Ceremonial, monopolizes power and persecutes loyal officials, sending Eastern Depot experts to hunt down martial artists, so that both the jianghu and the court fall into turmoil at the same time. The novel uses three weapons as its threads: the Green Dragon Crescent Blade, the Kunpeng Sword, and the Crescent Moon Divine Dart, linking martial feuds with the chaos of war and national upheaval. More than a hundred members of the Tang family are massacred; their descendant Tang Qi sets out on the road to revenge for his parents and is also drawn into the cause of resisting the Qing. Huashan, Wudang, Emei, the Beggar's Sect, the Murong family of Jiangnan, and the Shangguan family of Mobei appear one after another, with the Four Great Grandmasters and members of the demonic sect each holding their own ground; masters from the Western Regions are also sent into the Central Plains to stir up the jianghu, and clashes between the righteous and evil paths continue without end. The work follows the traditional wuxia path, emphasizing jianghu grudges, sect conflicts, and the duties of chivalry, while also portraying the unpredictable partings and reunions of heroes and beauties. The book has 588 chapters in total, and the final chapter is titled "Roaming Free at the World's End, Proud in the Jianghu."
Editor's review
