Ice Fire Martial God

Ice Fire Martial God is an Eastern fantasy web novel by Haijiao Qihao, a contracted author on Qidian, running to roughly four million Chinese characters, with the young Lin Yi as its protagonist. At the start, Lin Yi, born into decline, is struggling within his family; by chance he eats a Frost Fruit, awakening the power of the ice dragon within him, and from then on sets out on the path of cultivation and revenge, rising from a despised weakling. Wielding the Fire Cloud Divine Sword in one hand and the Snow Drink Mad Blade in the other, he cultivates both ice and fire at once, repeatedly fighting across realms and breaking through in the world of Shengyuan Continent, where the strong rule. The novel follows the classic route of "fallen youth—chance awakening—rise to power": from bullying and pill-snatching schemes in the family compound, to contests in academies and secret realms, to struggles among sects and across the continent. Along the way, Lin Yi protects his kin, establishes his authority, seeks his own path, makes sworn brothers and deadly enemies, and gradually uncovers the secrets of his bloodline and origins, ultimately reaching the realm of the "Martial God." The world-building is complete, with tiered realms such as the "Nine Heavens of Qi Creation," special constitutions such as the "Smoky Gaze Charming Body," and two power systems, fire and ice, plus dense action scenes and a brisk pace. The book was completed in February 2016, and its ending closes on a romantic note that many readers find somewhat bitter. Note that the novel was serialized on Qidian mainly as VIP chapters, and no formally published print edition is known.
