This is Volume 2 of the comics adaptation of the "Dunk and Egg" tales, a side series to A Song of Ice and Fire, corresponding to Martin's second novella, The Sworn Sword. The adaptation is scripted by Ben Avery and drawn by Mike S. Miller; it was first produced by Dabel Brothers Productions and later published in issues by Marvel Comics and collected as hardcover and paperback graphic novels. The story is set about ninety years before the main series: roughly a year and a half after the events of The Hedge Knight, with the aftermath of the spring Great Plague still lingering and the Reach suffering a severe summer drought. The Seven Kingdoms are nominally ruled by the bookish Aerys I, with real power in the hands of the Hand of the King, Bloodraven, Brynden Rivers. "Dunk"—Ser Duncan the Tall, now a sworn knight of Eustace Osgrey of Standfast—and his squire Egg, in truth Prince Aegon Targaryen, are drawn into a dispute over a dam and water rights between their master and his neighbor, the "Red Widow" Lady Rohanne Webber of Coldmoat. Old Blackfyre loyalties, family honor, and knightly vows are laid bare across the parched fields. This is Volume 2 of the series, presenting the story of The Sworn Sword on its own; because the Chinese edition's bibliographic details are difficult to verify, the contents of this entry are based on the original comics adaptation, and the specific Chinese edition should be confirmed against the physical copy.
