Series
This is the fifth volume of the Illuminati series, corresponding to issue #5 of the original Illuminati (2015), with the story arc titled "Criminal Careers" Part Five. In the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe, superheroes practically fill the sky, while villains must scrape by in the cracks. The Hood gathers this band of down-and-out criminals and promises them: join me, and we can win too, and take back the seat at the table that is rightfully ours. Titania, Mad Thinker, Thunderball, Black Ant, and the young woman known as the Enchantress all take their places at this table. Yet the team has been plagued by problems from the start: secrets kept from one another, mutual probing, and in this volume, one member betrays the group, thrusting the entire organization into the spotlight, facing not just the Avengers but even more formidable opponents. Intelligence leaks, false identities, and the consequences of betrayal erupt simultaneously, and the formidable power Titania has just acquired becomes the team's only hope. The author writes the villains' fights while also exploring why these people don't simply walk away—they cannot escape this path, and they have no other future. This volume is a key link as the "Criminal Careers" storyline enters its closing phase, and the seeds planted here will continue to unfold in subsequent chapters.

In the All-New, All-Different Marvel Universe, superheroes have all but filled the sky, leaving villains to scrape by in the cracks. The Hood gathers this band of down-and-out criminals and makes them a promise: join me, and we can win too—we can take back the seat at the table that's rightfully ours. Titania, Mad Thinker, Thunderball, Black Ant, and a young woman known as the Enchantress all take their places at that table. Yet the team is plagued with problems from the start: secrets kept from one another, mutual suspicion, and in this volume, one member betrays them all, thrusting the entire organization into the spotlight—facing not just the Avengers, but far more formidable foes. Leaked intelligence, falsified identities, and the consequences of betrayal all erupt at once, and the formidable power Titania has just acquired becomes the team's only hope. The author writes the villains' fights while also exploring why these people don't simply walk away—they can't escape this path, and they have no other future. This volume is a key installment as the "Criminal Enterprise" storyline moves toward its conclusion, and the seeds planted here will continue to unfold in later chapters.

Editor's review

Who it's for

A good fit for

Not a good fit for

Reading tips

FAQ
