Judge of Light and Darkness

Judge of Light and Darkness is a long fantasy web novel by You Shang de Meng Jun. It began serialization on Kanshuwang (some sources say Qidian) in June 2008 under contract, and was completed in October 2015, totaling about 160 chapters and more than 700,000 characters. The story takes place in a fantasy world called the Continent of Light and Shadow. Legend has it that ten thousand years ago, the Goddess of Light and Shadow created the continent, the gods, and humanity, establishing a order in which magic and battle aura coexist. A thousand years ago, the War of Gods and Demons broke out and nearly destroyed the continent; the God of Space summoned the Goddess of Light and Shadow to quell the flames of war, sealing the divine race in the upper realm, the Divine World, and the underworld race in the lower realm, the Underworld. Before departing, the goddess left a prophecy: a thousand years later the seals will open and the war of the gods will return, and a Judge of Light and Darkness bearing the Staff of Judgment and the God-Devouring Blade will end the conflict. The protagonist, Muyu Xiaofeng (also known as Mu Xiaofeng), has lived since childhood in Qinghe Fishing Village at the southernmost tip of the continent, raised by the village chief Skachi's family, and is as close as a sibling to the chief's daughter Xuewu. His father, Mu Tianhai, comes from a family of mages but has withdrawn into reclusive decline; his mother, Long Ruoyu, is a daughter of the Long family, a military house of the Yade Empire. Xiaofeng carries the prophecy of the "Doomed Lone Star" and is regarded by the God-Forsaken Clan as the "Watcher" of prophecy. As the Oran Empire and the Yade Empire go to war, he inherits his grandfather Mu Chenfeng's forbidden wind magic and his mother's martial art, the Dragon God Formula, and passes through major events including the tournament at Belgia Magic Academy and the Battle of Renault City; he also meets and is reunited with his maternal grandfather Long Jueao, his senior brother Datasnar, and Xiao Ai, a "Controller" of the God-Forsaken Clan, gradually moving toward the battle of Judgment Day.
