The Omniscient

The Omniscient is a science fiction web novel by Mo Xing Cang Yue, serialized on Qidian from March 1, 2020 and completed in March 2022 at roughly 4.2 million characters, ending with the chapter "A Sky Full of Stars." The protagonist, Huang Ji, is the son of a small rural farmer on Earth and has possessed extraordinary perception since childhood: what he sees reveals everything that has happened, what he hears pierces the scheming hearts of others, and what he senses uncovers secrets hidden deep in people's memories. Information floods in like a tide, and the young boy cannot interpret it; he is taken for a dull, simple child until his teens, when he gradually learns to control and understand this power and discovers that he is an extremely rare "Omniscient." Yet omniscience brings no happiness. He sees a more terrible truth: Earth is no paradise for humanity but a "pasture" for higher civilizations, where humans are raised, harvested and traded without knowing it, and organizations serving alien forces lurk on the planet. Gazing at the stars, Huang Ji feels keenly the malice of the entire universe and humanity's desperate straits. He is only a country boy, yet he cannot help sighing, "I know too much." To change humanity's fate, he works from behind the scenes, wielding the information gap as a weapon, maneuvering among factions, underground organizations and alien agents, spreading rumors, defusing plots and steering the tide of events, and going on to uncover the truth behind myths and decode the secrets between civilizations. The story starts from everyday paranormal abilities in the city and gradually expands to hidden history, interpretations of myth and the landscape of cosmic civilizations: technology, myth and even the universe's hidden "bugs" cannot escape the perception of information. Facing the insoluble trap of humanity being farmed by higher civilizations without knowing it, Huang Ji can only compete with the aliens: who knows more.
