Immortal Treasury

Immortal Treasury is a long xianxia cultivation novel that the author Gui Yu began writing again after a ten-year hiatus. It was serialized on Qidian from 2017 and completed on September 21, 2019, totaling about 2.76 million characters and 1,147 chapters of main text. The story begins in the otherworldly ancient state of Guyue: Qin Di, a modern man who has wasted half his life and achieved nothing, has his soul transmigrate after getting drunk and possesses the seventh son of Qin Guangling, Minister of Rites of the state of Yue. The fourteen-year-old Qin Di cares nothing for the classics of the imperial examinations and loves only miscellaneous books on immortals; the old peach tree of unknown age in the family home becomes the first door between him and the immortal path. Through a peach blossom baptism, he obtains a strange peach pit, and from then on his fate is tightly bound to it—fasting and sitting in meditation, merging the memories of two souls, obtaining the ascension token, boarding the immortal ferry to the Ascension Assembly, and entering the Golden Core Sect as an outer disciple with a wood spiritual root, formally embarking on qi-refining cultivation. Thereafter, Qin Di accumulates resources through small trades such as fishing, planting spiritual fields, cultivating spiritual earthworms, and making spirit-ascending powder, while also practicing alchemy, artifact refining, formations, and immortal music, advancing from qi refining, foundation building, golden core, and nascent soul all the way to stepping into the void, joining the Dao, earthly immortal, heavenly immortal, immortal king, immortal emperor, and Dao ancestor. The story's stage likewise expands from sects, secret realms, and marketplaces to the Tongtian River, the Dead Sea, and finally the Heavenly Court and the Three Pure Realms. The book downplays killing and intrigue, focusing instead on fortuitous encounters, management, and various small stories spanning past and present, and is called by readers a classical xianxia that is "leisurely, comfortable, and full of sunshine."
