Summary

The Fate of the Immortal Estate is a lengthy xianxia cultivation novel by the web author Baili Xi, written as a follow-up to Purple Estate Immortal Fate. It began serialization on Qidian Chinese Network on February 19, 2012, and concluded on August 30, 2013, running to roughly 1,157,700 characters across three volumes. The story is set in the state of Wu: the youth Ye Chen is an ordinary, unremarkable student at Beilu Academy, until he chances upon an ancient scroll in the library signed "Immortal Estate." Within the painted scroll lies a world of its own—a wooden hut, an acre of herb garden, an alchemy pavilion, a crafting pavilion, and a small, spiritually attuned azure fox. With this portable immortal estate, Ye Chen can accelerate the growth of spirit herbs and forge artifacts, slowly converting limited resources into the capital for his cultivation. He starts from the academy's basic techniques, takes part in strength assessments, joins parties to gather herbs in the mountains, makes his way in Tianwu Immortal Fate City, then enters the Tianxu Immortal Sect to study, climbs the trials of the Demon-Suppressing Tower, and attempts to run a merchant guild of his own. Like other "mortal stream" works of its time, the book emphasizes how a lowly nobody secures a foothold in the cultivation world through patient management and calculation, advancing step by step rather than through sudden enlightenment. The pacing is steady and the daily-life feel is strong, with planting, alchemy, crafting, and beast-rearing in the immortal estate serving as key attractions. Because the author moved to another platform, the book wraps up at around a million characters, notably shorter than originally planned.

Editor's review

Who it's for

A good fit for

Not a good fit for

Reading tips
