Immortal Mountain

Immortal Mountain is a long xianxia cultivation novel by the Taiwanese web novelist Hongsheng, published in installments in paperback by Taiwan's Novel Channel Press starting in 2012. Each volume runs to about a hundred thousand characters, and the series follows the youth Gao Feng in the mysterious mountain of cultivation known as the Immortal Mountain. The mountain has many layers, and the deeper one goes, the stranger the sights; the mountain paths, the mountain folk, the old men and the children all harbor unsolved mysteries. As Gao Feng climbs in pursuit of the Way, he repeatedly encounters powerful foes and bewildering traps, makes a bitter enemy of a demonic disciple, and becomes entangled with Princess Qingrou, Yuexiang, and others. As the story unfolds, the secret of the pure yin spirit body, the covert struggle between the Nine Nether Sect and the Prince of Wei's household, and great events such as the Sacred Longevity martial contest come successively to the surface, and Gao Feng grows through battle, contest, and puzzle-solving. The book follows the traditional Eastern xianxia and hot-blooded coming-of-age path, with an emphasis on layered worldbuilding and continuous scenes of combat.
