The Legend of Xianjian is a full-length xianxia cultivation novel by the author Dan Yezi. Serialized on 17K Novel Network since 2020, its digital rights are provided by Chinese Online and licensed for distribution to Shanghai Yuewen Information Technology Co., Ltd. Electronically compiled versions circulating online are commonly found on proofread book sites such as Zhixuan Cangshu. The story unfolds along two fates separated by nine hundred years: sixteen-year-old He Qianye falls into a long slumber after eating an unnamed poisonous herb by the banks of Zhuyuan Luoxi, and the wild plant thus comes to be called "Xiluo Qianye"; nine hundred years later, the girl Ye Xiaoqi opens the story of the Qianye herb, forms a bond with an immortal sword, and her fate is utterly rewritten. Employing dual narrative threads and centering on "Xiluo Qianye" as a unifying motif, the novel weaves through events such as the Zhuyuan martial tournament, the Old Master of Zhu taking a disciple, Guyue acknowledging its master, the demon extermination at Huangshi Town, and the practice of the Ten Stances of Guyue, developing the bonds between the characters and the immortal sword while exploring themes of fate's unpredictability, the refusal to accept one's lot, and the struggle to resist it. The book is divided into volumes including "Zhuyuan" and "Entering the World," and its style follows the more traditional xianxia approach, writing of sect affiliations, trials, demon extermination, and loyalty and camaraderie, creating a relatively clean cultivation world filled with blood and tears. In a statement about the work, the author expressed the wish to write "a xianxia, a story, a legend," blending a sense of destiny with the stubbornness of youth in a single stroke of the pen.
