The Five Elements Divine Doctor

The Five Elements Divine Physician is a long-form urban fantasy novel by the online author Qixing Tonghui. Completed at roughly two million Chinese characters across more than 680 chapters, it follows Xue Congliang, a physician who makes his living traveling the countryside treating the sick. Through his medical practice, he gradually becomes drawn into the long-buried mysteries of Xue Village, and after navigating the machinations of rival factions and enduring many hardships, he finally obtains the legendary Five Elements Artifacts. Thereafter, Xue Congliang devotes himself to healing the world with his consummate medical skill, cultivating the way of medicine even as he treats the sick and saves lives. Blending the principles of the five elements with medical practice, he develops five distinct elemental techniques, each with its own extraordinary power. He uses his medical arts to purge stubborn and malignant ailments and his abilities to stand against powerful enemies and armed foes, pressing ever forward through peril and opportunity. Along the way he wins the devotion of many beautiful women, and ultimately builds with his own hands a peaceful, prosperous haven—a true peach blossom spring—earning renown as a benevolent physician revered by all. With medicine as its backbone and the five elements as its soul, the novel weaves the traditional Chinese medical concept of the five elements generating and overcoming one another into its supernatural framework. It combines the compassionate ideal of the healing vocation with the satisfying thrills of urban fantasy and cultivation progression, making it one of the more representative early works in the urban divine physician genre of online fiction.
