Nine Stars

Nine Stars is a game-world fantasy web novel by Wuhan-based writer Guo Wei Miao. Serialized on Qidian from January 16, 2015, to March 31, 2016, it spans 596 chapters and roughly 1.77 million Chinese characters. The protagonist, Tang Zheng, was once a professional player of the online game Star Source World—highly skilled yet drowning in debt, scraping by selling in-game gold and gear. Killed in a freak accident while logging in, he is offered a choice between being reborn or crossing into another world, and picks the latter. He wakes in an unfamiliar jungle with nothing but a spatial belt packed with gold bars—no skills, no equipment, no NPCs. Rich beyond measure yet nearly dead on his first day in the new world, he survives on the strength of his Purple Gold constellation and his vast fortune, drives off the Hidden Blue Manor, befriends Tang Xiaotang and the Tang family stronghold, and gets swept up in the Star Burst incident and the Academy martial tournament, making a name for himself across the Xingyao Continent. The novel's power system is built on the "Fourteen Constellation Destinies": Seven Killings governs attack, Breaker Army governs speed, Integrity governs critical strikes, Greedy Wolf governs insight, and Purple Star governs the domineering aura that swallows rivers and mountains. Destiny and constellation determine a martial artist's growth path, and the protagonist climbs the star ranks by seizing constellations one after another. Written in a breezy, unconventional style that blends hot-blooded combat with streetwise humor, it is the author's second cross-genre work fusing fantasy and game elements after Peerless Tang Sect. A traditional Chinese physical edition was published in eight volumes by Taiwan's Shuo Pin Culture.
