The Noble Son of the Three Kingdoms

Summary
The Noble Son of the Three Kingdoms is a Three Kingdoms-themed web novel by Qingsé Pingguo, about 1.31 million characters long and now complete. Serialized on platforms including Zongheng Chinese and one of the earlier Three Kingdoms time-travel novels to take "the elegance of famous scholars" as its entry point, it is set after the Battle of Red Cliffs in the thirteenth year of Jian'an: Cao Cao holds the emperor to command the lords and has been defeated at Wulin, the Sun family rules southern Chu, and Liu Bei borrows Jingzhou and enters Shu; the golden age of contending warlords is fading, and the Wei-Jin era of powerful clans, rising pure conversation and elegant scholars is quietly approaching. The protagonist, Xun Can, is transported into the Xun family of Yingchuan and becomes the youngest son of Xun Yu, the seventh son of the household. Gifted from childhood, he has studied music, chess, calligraphy, painting and military strategy, but his ambition lies not in power struggles but in an elegant, leisurely life among the gentry and its celebrated figures. The work follows his growth to trace the Xun brothers' advances and retreats in office, the hidden power struggles of the Cao and Sima factions, and the shifting situation around the Three Kingdoms period; his entanglements with numerous women—the Zhong family, famous courtesans of the south, talented women and daughters of great houses—form the book's other main thread. Gentry life, literary gatherings, palace intrigue and romantic entanglements interweave to create a Three Kingdoms atmosphere unlike that of the "hegemony" genre. The book follows a "poetry-copying + daily life + harem" formula, focusing on displays of talent, romantic maneuvering and family relationships, with relatively little on military and statecraft. It is a niche historical harem web novel containing a great deal of romantic description, some of it explicit, and leaves some female characters' fates unresolved; reader opinions are sharply divided.
Editor's review

FAQ
