First-Class Servant

First-Class Servant is an Eastern fantasy novel by web novelist Chunqing Xili Ge (real name Wu Zhenming), originally serialized on 3G Book City and later renamed Overbearing and Supreme: First-Class Servant. The protagonist, Xu Feng, is originally a modern young man who is accidentally struck by lightning and reborn in another world, where his identity is that of a lowly servant. Unlike an ordinary servant, he carries the knowledge of a modern person and a Chinese treasure, and struggles his way up in a world that reveres mysterious-energy cultivation: he flirts with the Xiao family's young lady, Xiao Yilin, becomes entangled with women from wealthy families, makes friends with Jiang Yuan, starts out as a Mystic and, aided by wondrous items such as the Dao Mystic Scripture, the brick artifact, and the Thunder Shock, repeatedly defeats the strong while appearing weak and plays the pig to eat the tiger in duels and conflicts, gradually growing from a servant ordered about by others into a figure capable of shaking the configuration of the other world. The work is briskly paced with dense payoffs, and through the irreverent perspective of its male lead it overturns the fixed assumption that "servants are lowly." The 2021 Wenhui Publishing House edition of First-Class Servant is a comic adaptation of the original, in two volumes, presenting the early plot—the protagonist's transmigration, cultivation, and the conflicts involving the Xiao and Ling families—in chapter form, and is not the same in length as the millions of words of the online original.
