Über Volume 7

Über is an alternate-history comic created by British writer Kieron Gillen with artist Caanan White and others, serialized by the independent publisher Avatar Press from April 2013. The story diverges from real history in April 1945: as Berlin stands on the brink of falling and Hitler is about to take his own life, a secret Nazi research project succeeds in creating the "Übermensch" (Übers)—enhanced humans with immense physical strength and endurance who can release destructive energy called the "Halo." These "living weapons," with the "Panzermensch" (tank-men) as the basic tier and three "battleship-class" Übers—Siegmund, Siegfried, and Sieglinde, named after characters in Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen—at the apex, allow Germany to hold off the Soviet army at the last moment and force the Allies and the Soviet Union to invest in their own super-soldier programs, turning the war into a brutal arms race. This volume is the seventh in the series, corresponding to Über #7 (published November 2013). According to the official synopsis of that issue, the focus shifts to the Pacific theater: after the Übers are deployed in naval warfare, the balance of power suddenly tilts; Japanese super-soldiers, supported by kamikaze pilots, deal a heavy blow to the Allied fleet, and the Allies must find a way to stop this devastating offensive while catching up with the enemy's enhancements.
