Summary
This volume is issue #27 of the DC New 52 Superboy series (2011–2014), with a US publication date of January 14, 2014 (the cover is dated March). It was written by veteran Marvel writer Marv Wolfman (with Frank Hannah on script), interior art by Andres Guinaldo, and cover by Rafa Sandoval, Norm Rapmund, and others; the issue runs about 21–32 pages. In the story, following the "Forever Evil" event, Superboy and the Teen Titans are trapped in a distant future time and place; the protagonist, Jon Lane Kent (Superman's future son), finds himself in danger with an uncertain future in this alien time: he must contend with threats from the future as well as his own genetic defects and identity struggles, while his Teen Titans companions may also die in this time and place. This issue belongs to the Superboy Volume 5 "Paradox" storyline (collected in issues #26–34), an early chapter after the New 52 Superboy series shifted its protagonist from Kon-El to Jon Lane Kent. As a single issue in an ongoing series, the plot is tightly connected to the surrounding issues, and reading it alone can feel disjointed; it is best read together with issues #26 and #28 or the collected edition Superboy Vol. 5: Paradox.
