NYX Vol. 6

NYX is a seven-issue limited series published by Marvel from 2003 to 2005. In the title, "NY" stands for New York and "X" for District X. The story moves the camera from the X-Men's mansion to the streets of New York, focusing on a group of homeless teenage mutants forgotten by Xavier-style ideals: Kiden Nixon, who can freeze time; Tatiana Caban, who can shapeshift; Bobby Soul, who can project his astral form but loses his memory as a result; his disabled younger brother, Lil Bro; and X-23, Laura Kinney, the female clone of Wolverine. This volume is the sixth installment of the series, Part 6 of "Wannabe," set during the original NYX series. In this volume, the pimp "Zebra Daddy" hires Bobby, known as "Felon," to bring X-23 back; Bobby takes the job to earn money to take his brother out of New York to Las Vegas for treatment, then asks around for Kiden and the other girls, and in doing so comes across the address of Mr. Palmer's apartment. Meanwhile, Tatiana briefly returns home but finds that animals once close to her no longer recognize her; Cameron confesses to Kiden that she believes Kiden is the reason she has ended up where she is. Kiden also finds drugs and an envelope in a planner in the trash. The story unfolds across interlocking street-level threads in New York, focusing on how these children rely on one another while short of food and shelter.
