Batman Unhinged Vol. 7

This volume is Chapter 7 of the digital-first series Batman Unhinged (the Batman: Arkham City tie-in comic Batman: Arkham Unhinged), part of the "Ruffled Feathers" storyline. Written by Derek Fridolfs and drawn by Simon Coleby, the chapter adapts the game Batman: Arkham City. The story unfolds from the perspective of the Penguin, Oswald Cobblepot: his nightclub, the Iceberg Lounge, is one of the few "civilized corners" of Arkham City, and he recounts that he was not locked into the city but chose to stay and do business. His men arrive at the pickup point as agreed to collect supplies, only to find the goods already looted by the Joker's gang, the walls covered in "Ha Ha" graffiti and the delivery man killed. In the chaos the men salvage only one intact wooden crate of wine—yet inside is a single bottle that has been tampered with. The incident stirs the Penguin's memories of accumulated grievances against the Joker and explains the origin of his later hardline stance toward him. A short installment in an ensemble story, this chapter focuses on the power structure among Arkham City's villains: the Penguin's business sense, the Joker's destructive urge, and the long-standing feud between the two. This is Chapter 7 of the digital serial; it is best read together with Chapters 8 and 9 to complete the "Ruffled Feathers" thread.
