Superman: Unchained is a Superman story from DC's New 52 era and a 75th-anniversary tribute to the character, written by Scott Snyder with art by Jim Lee. The Chinese edition was translated by Lieyue and published by World Publishing Corporation in 2016. The story begins with a secret buried for years: long before the last son of Krypton became Earth's guardian, another being of immense power fell to Earth, and the role he played in humanity's most devastating war became one of America's darkest secrets. Years later, that secret surfaces, and the long-sealed "super-soldier" is released, drawing in Superman, his nemesis Lex Luthor, reporter Lois Lane, and Lois's hard-edged father, General Sam Lane. Alongside them are the high-tech terror group Ascension, tied in countless ways to the past; the Wraith, an alien being stronger than Superman; and the mysterious substance called Earthstone. The work places Superman in a situation where the balance of power is utterly overturned: when a being equal to or even stronger than himself appears, the difference in their choices becomes the heart of the story. Jim Lee's realistic style and cinematic paneling add intense action and immersion. This volume corresponds to Volume 4 of the series.
