Tian Ye (1923–2009), originally named Lei Guancheng, was a poet and essayist from Chengdu, Sichuan, and a member of the Chinese Writers Association. He worked as an editor for journals such as Hubei Literature and Art and Yangtze River Literature and Art, and remained closely engaged with writing throughout his life. His works include the poetry collection Lover of Nature and the essay collections Yearning Song and Records of a Sea Voyage; among them, The Kite Hanging on the Treetop received the National Outstanding Essay Collection Award for the New Era. His writing is known for its natural and emotional sensibility, with plain and sincere language, and has had a certain influence in contemporary Chinese poetry and prose.
