Ji Qun is known to Chinese readers mainly through his popular writing on Buddhism and life, though limited public information is available about him. Six of his works are included in the collection, among them We Misunderstood This World, We Misunderstood Ourselves, The Key to Unlocking Inner Wisdom: A Reading of the Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch, How to Make Life Better, How to Live This Life Well, and Running a Business and Living a Life. His subjects span inspirational personal growth and Eastern philosophy. Rather than indulging in abstract speculation, he often begins with everyday confusion and the challenges of business life, using traditional wisdom to reconsider self-perception, the meaning of life, and attitudes toward living. His plain, accessible style encourages readers to reflect and put insight into practice, and his works have some influence among urban readers and enthusiasts of traditional culture.
