About the author

Li Hongwei was born in Jiangyou, Sichuan, in 1978. He holds a master's degree in philosophy from Renmin University of China and now lives in Beijing. A writer, poet and translator, he serves as deputy director of the National Museum of Modern Chinese Literature. His works include the novels Parallel Erosion, The King and Lyric Poetry, A Brief History of Grey Clothes and The Albatross Must Sprout, as well as the poetry collection Ten Imaginings of a Possible Life, and he has translated A Self-Account of Ulysses. He has received awards including the Yu Dafu Fiction Prize and the Wu Cheng'en Novel Prize. His writing is known for its speculative bent and stylistic experimentation. The library also holds two of his works classified under politics and examinations, The Little-Known History: Jiao Yulu and the Port Area and Application of New Energy Technology; given their wide range of subjects, available public information is limited and does not allow a reliable summary of his consistent style.
