Zhang Qifan is a Chinese book author about whom limited public information is available. His one confirmed work is the biography Song Taizong, a book in the general biography category about Zhao Guangyi, the second emperor of the Northern Song dynasty. The work centers on the emperor's life, his political activities, and the historical context of his reign. Judging from this title, the author is concerned with Song dynasty historical figures and political history, presenting complex historical developments through the form of an imperial biography rather than a broad general history. Since only this single work is held in the collection, nothing can be verified about his other writings, academic background, or research interests, and this introduction makes no speculations on those points. Based on the available information, readers may regard Song Taizong as a biographical work for understanding early Song politics and court history.
