Public information about him is limited: his dates of birth and death, nationality, and English name are unknown. Twenty of his works are held in the collection, mostly on popular mathematics and education, with some touching on social culture. Representative titles include lecture-style readers such as Kaiming Geometry Lectures and Kaiming Arithmetic Lectures, as well as boxed sets for young readers, including Liu Xunyu's Three Books on Mathematics: Mathematics Should Be Learned This Way and Three Books on Mathematics for Children: Mathematics Can Be Learned This Way. The Fun Mathematics for Children series and Mathematics Can Be Learned This Way: The Fun of Mathematics continue this lively, everyday approach.
