Le Wencheng is a writer about whom limited public information is available. Six of his works are included in the collection, falling into two categories: general biography and applied psychology. He writes mainly biographies, and his subjects span a wide range: from the modern writer Wang Xiaobo and the modern scholar Gu Hongming to the Neo-Confucian master Wang Yangming, the historical figure Yue Fei, and the American industrialist Howard Hughes, touching on literature, scholarship, thought, and history. His biographies often take the form of critical or playful accounts, blending commentary and a personal tone into the narrative of a life, as in his biographies of Wang Xiaobo and Gu Hongming. He also addresses psychological topics; the book "Depression, Let's Break Up" shows a relaxed style aimed at general readers. Overall, his works combine readability with interpretation of their subjects, suiting readers who wish to quickly understand a figure's life and thought.
