This is Volume 3 of the five-volume miniseries Veil. The series follows a young woman who wakes in an abandoned subway tunnel with no memory of who she is or where she came from. She can kill anyone who tries to harm her, which draws various factions to find and control her. In Volume 3, Veil is more vulnerable than ever: the only person she can rely on is taken from her by force, leaving her to face a powerful, mysterious adversary. This figure seems to know Veil's origins and has purposes of their own. As the adversary closes in and sets trap after trap, the truth proves not more reassuring than expected but more terrifying. This volume leans toward oppression and confrontation, continuing the series' stained-glass palette of fractured color and building suspense through suggestion and negative space rather than direct display. This is Volume 3 of the series (corresponding to Veil #3). For the full story, read Volumes 1 and 2 first; the series runs five volumes and concludes in Volume 5.
