Summary

Two young people who initially disliked each other are brought together by fate and cooperate again and again.

Through these collaborations, they gradually shed their prejudices. Their hearts slowly draw closer, and they gain a deeper understanding of their profession and of life. When a major infectious disease outbreak occurs, they give each other their most tacit trust, hold fast to their posts, and save lives. The disease is finally defeated, and the two young people walk down the aisle.

Editor's review

As the sequel to the series, this book shifts its focus from the lighthearted, sparring standoff of two people who meet and dislike each other to the professional stage where they shoulder responsibilities side by side. Through one collaboration after another, the two protagonists dissolve their prejudices and grow closer; the romance is no longer simply sweet, but entwined with professional growth and reflections on life. The outbreak of a major infectious disease is the emotional and thematic high point of the book: trust, steadfastness, and saving lives are no longer slogans but become the touchstone of their relationship. The author maintains a light narrative tone but writes more steadily in professional scenes and life-and-death choices, giving the love story real-world weight. Suitable for readers who want a medical-background romance that feels grounded and are willing to be moved by professional conviction, and also suitable for reading in segments on the commute or before bed, following the characters as they complete the transformation from rivalry to standing shoulder to shoulder.

Reading tips

  1. It is recommended to read the first book first to understand the starting point of their meeting and mutual dislike, then enter the collaboration stage of this book.
  2. When reading the disease-outbreak section, slow down and pay attention to the changes in how the two build trust and make professional choices.
  3. Reading the romantic development alongside their work collaboration makes it easier to see the process of prejudice dissolving.
  4. Suitable for reading in segments on the commute or before bed; after each collaboration plot point, pause briefly to savor it.

FAQ

Can I read the second book directly without having read the first?
You can, but it is recommended to read the first book first. The second book builds on the starting point of their relationship, from blind-date dislike to rivalry in the same workplace; going straight into the collaboration stage may leave the emotional shift feeling underprepared. Reading the first book first will help you better appreciate the layers of prejudice dissolving and trust building in this one.
Is this book focused on romance or on the medical profession?
The two are intertwined. The romance runs throughout, but the major infectious disease event makes professional responsibility the key driver of their relationship. The author uses collaboration scenes to make the two appreciate each other, and also uses the life-and-death test to ground love in trust and steadfastness; it does not read as a simple love story.
Is the tone of the story very heavy?
The overall narrative tone is on the lighter side, with a touch of light comedy in the daily collaboration and emotional interactions; the disease-event section brings tension and emotion, but the book is not depressing throughout. Suitable for readers who want to be moved by professional conviction without reading something too taxing.
