About the author
Zhang Xin, a contemporary Chinese writer, was born in Beijing in 1954, with her ancestral home in Haimen, Jiangsu. She joined the military in 1969, settled in Guangzhou after being transferred to civilian work in 1984, and graduated from the writers' class of the Department of Chinese at Peking University in 1990. For many years she has been a professional writer at the Guangzhou Institute of Literary and Artistic Creation and vice chair of the Guangdong Writers Association. Known for urban-themed novels such as Behind the Splendor, Deep Throat, Locking in Spring, Foxtrot Kill, and Like Wind, Like Jade, she has won the Lu Xun Literature Prize, the Zhuang Chongwen Literature Prize, and two Baihua Literature Awards. Her work focuses on urban life and human nature, with delicate prose and fluent storytelling. The collection also includes professional works on medical ethics, acupuncture training, surgical practice, and translation studies; public information is limited, so their compilation background is best consulted in the individual titles.
