Summary

Before dawn had fully broken, when the eastern ridge was just showing a sliver of pale white, there was already movement among the wooden houses of the Suiming clan. A'yan was woken by the crowing of roosters and scrambled to his feet, the animal-hide quilt sliding down to his waist. This quilt was from a large black bear the hunting party had brought down last winter; the clan chief had specially allotted it to his family—thick and warm...

Editor's review

The book opens with the daily life of A'yan, a boy of the Suiming clan, entering through details like the hide quilt and rising at cockcrow to make the life of early humans tangible and vivid. Rather than rushing to lay out a grand mythological system, the work uses scenes of tribal hunting, meat distribution, and family life to first draw readers into a prehistoric world with human warmth, then gradually introduce mythological narrative. Its value lies in using fictional technique to animate public-domain mythological resources, restoring abstract mythic figures as tribal members with names and emotions, lowering the threshold for reading about ancient times. The prose leans toward concrete, plain description with a leisurely pace, suited to continuous reading in a quiet setting and also as an introductory text for young readers to learn about myth and early human life. Readers familiar with mythological systems may note how the author embeds details of tools, food, and dwelling into the plot, and appreciate the link between fiction and tradition.

FAQ

Is this book strict mythological scholarship or a fictionalized retelling?

Judging from the opening, the work unfolds through the daily life of A'yan of the Suiming clan, presenting prehistoric tribal scenes with fictional technique; it is storytelling, not academic scholarship. Readers may treat it as a narrative entry into the world of myth, not as reference material for mythological research.

Can I understand it without prior knowledge of myth?

Yes. The opening begins with everyday details such as rising from bed, the hide quilt, and tribal meat distribution, and does not rely on prior knowledge. Readers can enter tribal life through A'yan's perspective, with mythological elements emerging gradually in the narrative; the threshold is low.

Is it suitable for children?

The tribal life descriptions are concrete and gentle, suitable as reading material for young people encountering ancient themes. However, given scenes involving hunting and meat distribution, parents may decide based on their child's age and sensitivity whether to read together or preview the book first.

About the author

MYHD Author

MYHD is a Chinese web author with an unusually broad range of subjects. Public information about the author is limited: real name, nationality, and dates of birth and death have not been disclosed, while the existing body of work numbers 255 titles. Representative works such as Needle's Point Hides the Blade, Life Code: The Medical AI Forbidden Zone, and The Ark Protocol show the author often exploring the boundaries of technology and ethics within science fiction and suspense. Works like The Behavior Code of Huiming Middle School, I Restore Artifacts in a Museum, and Faint Light on a Rainy Night instead turn to the details of school life, cultural relics, and everyday experience. The recurring categories—social fiction, science fiction, otherworldly continents, modern romance, and time-travel alternate worlds—span both the real and the fantastic. Titles such as Rebirth of the Warp and Weft: A Commoner's Stirring Return and Breaking Free from Fine Silk further reveal a fondness for historical settings and turning points in characters' fates. On the whole, MYHD is known for high output and thematic variety, placing concrete textures of life within genre narratives; the sheer number of works stands out among comparable authors.
