Summary

Attack on Avengers is a short crossover between Marvel Comics and Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan. The story begins when man-eating Titans suddenly emerge from the water in Central Park in Manhattan, throwing the entire city into chaos. Iron Man races toward the scene, where S.H.I.E.L.D. is in charge, while pressing Agent Maria Hill about the origin of these monsters; the answer he gets is "unknown—they just came out of the water." Spider-Man tangles with two smaller Titans in Times Square, while Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye fight multiple Titans including the Armored Titan. Captain America quickly deduces that the Titans' weak point is the nape of the neck; the intelligence is relayed to Iron Man through S.H.I.E.L.D., and Hawkeye also brings down a Titan by shooting its nape. Iron Man and the Hulk team up against the Female Titan, and the Guardians of the Galaxy—Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot—soon arrive to take on the Female Titan and a Colossal Titan appearing near the Statue of Liberty whose size far exceeds common sense. Originally a color-page short published in the Japanese magazine BRUTUS in 2014, with English text and Japanese translation, it was later released in North America in 2015 as a bonus in Secret Wars #0 for Free Comic Book Day. The entire piece is only eight pages, with almost no setup, moving straight into ensemble action. Because it was originally a promotional project, the story ends as the heroes regroup and prepare to face more Titans, without a complete conclusion. The Chinese edition, titled Attack on Avengers, is collected in volume 2 of the Marvel Comics collection "Avengers" series.

Editor's review

Reading tips

FAQ
