Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl is the breakout novel by American author Cecily von Ziegesar and the opening installment of the Gossip Girl series. Set at an elite private school on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the story follows a mysterious blogger known as "Gossip Girl," who reveals every secret on campus through her daily posts—from party invitations to romantic gossip, nothing escapes her. After a period away, society darling Serena suddenly returns to school. Her former best friend Blair is thrown into turmoil: thrilled by her friend's return, yet uneasy, because an unresolved tension lingers between Blair's boyfriend Nate and Serena, and Serena's comeback could also shake Blair's standing in the school's social circle. Undercurrents swirl between the two girls, and their friendship begins to be tested by jealousy and misunderstanding. Set against the parties, fashion, and romantic entanglements of Upper East Side teenagers, the novel depicts adolescent confusion, vanity, and transformation in a light, sharp-edged style, while also touching on parents' marriages, academic pressure, and other troubles ordinary teens face. This is the first volume of the Chinese edition of the Gossip Girl series and the source material for the hit youth drama of the same name.
