Mastering Spring MVC 4

Mastering Spring MVC 4 is a hands-on, advanced-level book in the field of Spring MVC, originally written by Geoffroy Warin. The Chinese edition was translated by Zhang Weibin and Sun Liwen and published by Posts & Telecom Press. The book has 10 chapters and about 267 pages, and its main focus is how to build a real, usable web application from scratch and carry it all the way through to deployment. Rather than stopping at annotations and configuration, the book unfolds along the development flow of a complete project: first generating a Spring Boot project skeleton quickly with Spring Tool Suite, IntelliJ IDEA, or start.spring.io, then dissecting the MVC request-handling chain to understand how controllers, view resolvers, and view technologies work together; next it deals in turn with form binding and validation, complex URL mapping, file upload and error pages, REST-based API design, security, unit and acceptance testing, request optimization such as caching and ETags, and finally deploying the application to a cloud platform and extending beyond Spring Web. The author's approach is oriented toward learning by doing, with every chapter built on the same evolving sample project. It suits developers who already know basic Spring annotations but are not yet fluent in what the author calls modern web architecture. As a book published in 2017 and written around Spring MVC 4 and early Spring Boot, much of its XML configuration and many of its tool versions now look dated, so readers need to migrate them themselves in line with current Spring Boot versions.
