Catwoman: Election Night

Catwoman: Election Night is a 2016 DC Comics oversized one-shot of about 48 pages. The story takes place during the Gotham City mayoral election: the whole city is whipped into a frenzy by the campaign, while Selina Kyle (Catwoman) has no interest in politics and wants to stay out of it. But when the candidates start targeting her private life and even touch the people and things she cares about, the "cat lady" decides to step in personally—and naturally leaves everyone involved complaining. The main feature is written by Meredith Finch, with art by Shane Davis and Igor Vitorino, among others. Using Oswald Cobblepot's (the Penguin's) entry into the mayoral race, the story makes fairly blunt fun of the political climate of the time, while interspersing flashbacks to Selina's teenage years that fill in a gap in her upbringing for readers. The issue also includes a backup short story by Mark Russell and Ben Caldwell, the creative team behind Prez, starring Beth Ross, the young female president from that series. The backup continues the election theme and uses satire to discuss women's issues, firearms, reproductive rights, and other social topics. Overall, this is a standalone special combining superhero storytelling with current-events satire, offering action and battles of wits alongside light but sharp commentary on power, corruption, and voting.
