Death Angel Vol. 3

Death Angel is a DC Comics series centered on the character Azrael. The character's core concept was established by Dennis O'Neil and Joe Quesada in the 1992 four-issue miniseries Batman: Sword of Azrael: he comes from the centuries-old Sacred Order of St. Dumas, trained as an Angel of Vengeance and clad in heavy, cursed armor, struggling to survive between faith and killing. The character left a deep mark on DC Comics history. In the 1993 Knightfall event, after Bane breaks Batman's back, it is Azrael Jean-Paul Valley who is ordered to don the cape and cowl; his increasingly unhinged, brutal brand of justice, warped by the Order, finally forces a recovered Bruce Wayne to bring him down. During the 2008-2009 Batman R.I.P. and Battle for the Cowl period, the mantle passes to former police officer Michael Lane, who becomes the new guardian of the Order of Purity in the three-issue miniseries Azrael: Death's Dark Knight while entangled with Nightwing, Talia al Ghul, and the League of Assassins. This volume is the third in the series.
