Editor's review

Sky is a thought-provoking essay collection by the writer Fang Da, published by Liaoning Education Press. Rather than a simple depiction of a natural phenomenon, the book treats "sky" as a grand philosophical and aesthetic image, exploring human existence, memory, solitude, and hope beneath the heavens. With delicate and restrained strokes, Fang Da weaves together personal observation, childhood recollection, travel reflections, and historical fragments, building a textual space that is at once intimate and universal. The book has no dramatic plot, yet it is filled with keen captures of light, clouds, and the turning of the seasons, and with the effort to hold on to the fleeting beauty of modern life. Reading it is like taking a slow spiritual stroll; it invites readers to step away from the worldly for a while and look up at a landscape we all share yet often overlook. Its literary value lies in that quiet narrative power and in the thoughts on the essence of life it touches upon unawares, making it suitable for readers seeking inner calm and literary beauty in a noisy age.
