The Princess Bride

Modern girl Feng Chen Chuyang accidentally saves a child and then asks Ding Xiaoxian, who has come to repay the favor on her younger brother's behalf, to let her travel back to ancient times. The wish actually comes true: she is transformed into Princess Furong of the State of Zhou. Before she can adjust to life as a princess, she is arranged to be married off to the third prince of the State of Vale, Chengde. Along the way, Chengde makes things difficult for her at every turn, and the two bicker constantly, yet their relationship quietly changes. Furong takes the opportunity to escape en route and meets the swordsman Nangong Yue, who has been entrusted by someone to rescue her, and is thereby drawn into a palace conspiracy. Later Furong is seized back to the palace, and Chengde takes her far to the northwest on campaign. After returning to court, Furong learns that her mother was actually the illegitimate daughter of the previous emperor of Vale; Chengde intends to ask his father to change Furong's identity, but instead is ordered to serve as a Daoist nun as punishment. Furong gradually discovers that there is another hand behind everything around her, and that the people close to her are not as simple as they appear. This is a full-length web novel by Xian Cheng; the style is light and humorous throughout, with only brief depiction of the historical background and the focus placed on character interaction and emotional relationships, in twenty-five chapters plus an epilogue.
