Summary
Starfire #9 is part of DC Comics' 2015–2016 solo series starring Starfire (Koriand'r), co-written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. Interior art for this issue is by Elsa Charretier, colors by Hi-Fi, the standard cover is by Amanda Conner, and a variant cover is by Neal Adams. Titled "Approaching the Abyss," the story picks up threads from earlier issues: Starfire and her friend Stella Gomez travel deep underground in a special bubble craft, guided by Atlee (also known as Terra), a young woman from the subterranean world of Strata and an old acquaintance from the Teen Titans, to visit Atlee's homeland. But Strata has changed since Atlee left, and soon after the three arrive they are caught up in a struggle for the throne and an invasion crisis; meanwhile, back in Key West, Sol looks after Starfire's alien pet Syl'Khee. The issue continues the series' light, humorous tone and its focus on everyday relationships, while laying groundwork for the later "A Matter of Time" storyline. This volume collects issue #9 of the series.
Editor's review
