这是一本“按学校课时设计”的SQL Server教材，而不是零散的技巧合集。它的路子很清楚：先用关系数据库理论把概念打牢，再进入SQL Server 2016的环境与对象管理，随后一口气把T-SQL、查询、视图、存储过程、触发器、事务与锁这些开发核心讲完，最后落到安全管理、备份恢复、自动化任务、复制与性能监视这些“出了学校就要用”的管理技能上。 对自学者来说，最值得看的是第15章的完整项目案例——从需求分析、概念结构设计、表设计一直做到Java访问数据库的功能实现，把前面十几章的知识串成一条线。每章配小结和习题，例题都经过调试，主要操作还录了微课视频，扫码即可看，操作卡住时不必四处找资料。 需要提醒的是，SQL Server 2016 已不是当前主流版本，书中的界面截图和部分特性说明与新版有一定差距；但数据库设计、T-SQL语法、事务、索引、备份恢复这些底层知识迁移性很强，学完后再对照新版文档补充差异即可。同社另有卫琳、马建红的《SQL Server数据库应用与开发教程（第五版）（2016版）》，选书时注意区分。
