About the author
Henry James O'Brien Bedford-Jones (H. Bedford-Jones, 1887–1949) was a Canadian-born American novelist, born in Napanee, Ontario, and died in California in 1949. Known for his remarkable productivity and called the "King of the Pulps," he wrote nearly two hundred novels and more than a thousand short stories, spanning historical, adventure, science fiction, and Western genres. His representative works include Nuala O'Malley, The Mesa Trail, and The Mardi Gras Mystery, and three of his works are held in this collection. Public information about him is limited, and details of his life and writing remain scarce, yet his prolific output and varied subjects clearly left a distinctive mark on the popular fiction magazines of the early twentieth century.
