Summary

This is the Chinese translation of the third edition of Eloquent JavaScript, originally released online under a Creative Commons license and widely recognized as a classic introductory text for learning JavaScript. The Chinese edition is divided into three parts and twenty-two chapters. Part One (Chapters 1–12) covers the language itself, from values, types, and operators, program structure, functions, and data structures (objects and arrays) to higher-order functions, objects and prototypes, class notation, iterators, regular expressions, modularity, asynchronous programming, and error handling. Part Two (Chapters 13–19) turns to the browser environment, introducing DOM manipulation, event handling, Canvas drawing, HTTP and forms, and client-side data storage. Part Three (Chapters 20–22) introduces Node.js and how to build a small website with it, and concludes with ideas and tools for program performance optimization. Interspersed are five project chapters—a delivery robot, a homemade programming language, a platform game, a pixel drawing program, and a dynamic website—that ground syntax knowledge in complete runnable programs. Each chapter ends with targeted exercises, and the companion website offers an online code sandbox. The third edition is fully updated, covering ES6 features such as classes, arrow functions, template strings, block scope, promises, and async functions. The Chinese translation is by Lu Tao and Li Ying, runs over 350 pages, and suits readers who want a systematic rather than quick-fix understanding of JavaScript.

Editor's review

Who it's for

A good fit for

Not a good fit for

Reading tips

FAQ

(A Modern Introduction to Programming, Third Edition)。
