Summary

This book introduces the new features and standards of HTML5 and trains readers in HTML5 web page development. It uses CSS3 to create a variety of web page effects and animations, enhance user experience, and produce more refined web content. It also covers canvas drawing skills—the advent of canvas overturned the previous notion that HTML could only add images, and canvas can be used to achieve many more impressive effects. In addition, the course offers much practical experience sharing from enterprises, enabling readers to learn the concepts while also grasping more enterprise requirements and improving their project experience.

Editor's review

HTML5+CSS3 Development in Practice, written by Xiao Rui and published by Posts & Telecom Press, is a practical technical tutorial for beginners in web front-end development. The book systematically organizes the core knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3 and emphasizes application in real project scenarios. Unlike many books on the market that focus on theory or scattered cases, this book takes "practice" as its core thread, starting from basic semantic tags, CSS3 selectors, and the box model, and gradually moving on to responsive layout, Flexbox, Grid, animation, transitions, and advanced HTML5 topics such as Canvas, audio and video, and local storage. Its content arrangement reflects a clear progressive learning path, aiming to help readers build the ability to solve practical problems while understanding the specifications.

A notable value of this book lies in its attention to modern web development workflows. It not only explains syntax but also covers browser compatibility handling, use of developer tools, and code organization methods that conform to current industry standards. This allows readers to develop good development habits and engineering thinking while learning technical details. The author, Xiao Rui, has rich teaching and practical experience, and his narrative style is plain and accurate, explaining concepts through a large number of runnable code examples, which lowers the learning threshold.

Overall, this is a solid guide for beginners and intermediate learners. It may not suit readers seeking a quick start with cutting-edge frameworks such as React or Vue, but for developers who wish to solidify the foundations of web front-end and gain an in-depth understanding of the principles and technical details of modern web page construction, this book provides a systematic and practical knowledge map and has high learning and reference value.

FAQ

Does this book require readers to have a programming background?
This book is aimed at beginners and assumes readers have the most basic computer operation knowledge, but does not require prior programming knowledge. It starts from the most basic HTML tags and CSS syntax and proceeds step by step, making it suitable for absolute beginners.
Is the technical content in the book outdated?
The core content of this book focuses on the stable core specifications of HTML5 and CSS3, which are the cornerstones of modern web development and have long-term applicability. The book also covers modern layout solutions such as Flexbox and Grid, so the content is not outdated. However, for some extremely cutting-edge CSS features or APIs, readers may need to consult the latest materials separately.
Does this book include JavaScript content?
This book focuses mainly on HTML5 and CSS3. Some chapters (such as those involving Canvas or audio and video interaction) introduce basic JavaScript code as a supplement, but it is not a systematic JavaScript tutorial. Readers who wish to study interaction logic in depth will need to supplement their JavaScript knowledge separately.

邓小飞 Author

Deng Xiaofei is an author about whom limited public information is available. Judging from the existing works, his writing focuses on computer technology application and development books, with representative titles including HTML5+CSS3 Development in Practice and SQL Server 2008 Database Application Technology. These two books address front-end web development and database applications respectively, indicating that the author attends to the practical operation and project implementation of specific technical tools rather than general theoretical exposition. Books of this kind are usually aimed at university students and beginning developers, emphasizing step-by-step exercises and understanding concepts through hands-on practice. Classified under general computing, the works also reflect a combination of front-end and back-end fundamentals, making them suitable as course companions or self-study references. Because the available information is limited, the author's personal background, professional experience, and other aspects of his writing style cannot be confirmed; readers may learn more about his editorial approach and scope by consulting the two works mentioned above.
