About the author
Anna Lenah Elgström (born 1884) was a Swedish writer and translator. Public information about her is limited, and the details of her life are little known to Chinese readers, yet her surviving works and bibliographic records still offer a rough outline of her writing. She is the author of Havsboken and also wrote novels, biographies and travel literature, moving between fictional narrative and non-fiction reportage. Her writing is often described as combining close observation with an unhurried narrative manner, capturing her characters' emotions and the spirit of their times through everyday experience and travels. As a translator, she also brought foreign works to Swedish-language readers, serving as a bridge in literary exchange. Her works still draw some scholarly attention and offer a useful reference for understanding early twentieth-century Swedish women's writing and the tradition of travel literature.
