Haunt is an Image supernatural action comic created by Todd McFarlane and Robert Kirkman, launched in October 2009. The story centers on two long-estranged brothers: the younger, Daniel Kilgore, a former Catholic priest, and the elder, Kurt, an agent of a secret intelligence agency. After Kurt is murdered, his ghost latches onto his brother, and together they form the being called Haunt—clad in a suit of ectoplasm and possessed of tremendous power. This volume is issue #12 of the series, the finale of its second major arc and also the conclusion of the main storyline of its first year: the mastermind Hurg and his secret organization are dragged into the open, and Haunt and the intelligence agency launch an all-out assault before they can vanish fully underground; it was this man who ordered Kurt's murder and who set in motion the creation of Haunt. Beyond the fighting, the issue devotes much space to aftermath and relationships: the old grudge and reconciliation between the brothers Daniel and Kurt, Amanda's guilt, Mirage's head-on confrontation with Amanda, and Daniel's gradual firm footing within the agency. The arc closes cleanly while seeding a new enemy for the next stage.
