About the author
The Swedish novelist Gustaf af Geijerstam (1858–1909) was born in Västmanland and died in Stockholm. A graduate of Uppsala University, he worked in journalism and publishing. His early writing was influenced by naturalism and addressed social issues, later turning toward psychological portrayal. Representative works include Erik Granne, Medusas hufvud and Kärlek och politik, the last corresponding to the library's copy of Avioliiton ilveily: Romaani. The library also holds Boken om lille-bror: Ett äktenskaps roman and Nils Tufvesson och hans moder: Bonderoman, along with Finnish and Greek translations, indicating that his works circulated in several European languages. His novels often explore marriage, family and rural life, with a manner that moves from social critique toward introspection. Public information is limited, and biographical details here follow the library's records.
